Meet Mark Martin, Executive Producer of
Jeremiah Films' Video Against Seventh-day Adventism

I have never been able to talk with Mark Martin directly, even though
Jeremiah Films recommended that I talk with him. After being what seemed
to me yelled at by Lorri MacGregor, script writer for the video, Jeremiah
Films suggested that I try Mr. Martin.
Not only was Mark Martin the executive producer, but he and his wife
also personally appeared in the video. He also was listed third on the
list of six researchers in the credits at the end of the video.
I called his church three times on October 14 and 15. Someone did
return my call. He acknowledged that he was not an expert on Adventist
beliefs. We talked about a number of subjects, and he assured me that he
would do some research and then get back with me.
One point he kind of attacked me on was the Adventist position on
Michael. I shared with him from Daniel, John, 1 Thessalonians, and Jude,
after which he was a bit subdued. He said, "I wouldn't have come up
with that by reading on my own," but he could see, it seemed to me,
that we just might have a biblical case for our belief.
I never heard from him again.
On January 3 and 4 I called Mark Martin's church again. I think I got
a return call from someone the following Thursday, the 6th. He listened
to my list of disputed points. He assured me that he would try to call
the first part of the following week. I never heard from him again.
I called Jeremiah Films again on
January 13. My wife and I were going out
to California to visit her ailing grandmother, who just happened to live
about 20 miles from Hemet, headquarters for Jeremiah Films. I thought
maybe I could sit down with someone and show them my material
discrediting the points in the video.
Brian, who took my call, avoided the idea. When he found out that I was coming from Colorado, he highly
recommended that I sit down with Pastor Mark Martin in Phoenix, who was
supposed to be able to help me.
Skeptically, for I was getting tired of everyone repeatedly passing
the buck, I called Martin to set up an appointment:
May I speak to Mark Martin?
He is busy. May I take a message.
Jeremiah Films told me that I should sit down and talk to him on my
way out to California next week. I wanted to set up an appointment.
Just a minute.
I had not suggested a day or told her anything about my itinerary.
After a while she returned:
Pastor Martin's schedule is really busy. He cannot visit with you.
But if you write a letter, he will respond in that way.
Mark Martin runs a self-proclaimed outreach to Seventh-day
Adventists, trying to allegedly give them the gospel. If, however, you
know a bit about Adventist history and beliefs, and you think you can
show him where he has misrepresented the facts, he just won't talk to
you. At least that has been my experience.
