#127: [The picture used as the background for the previous quote, which shows a shivering, naked man sitting in a basin of ice water on top of an ice block. His feet are in a basin of boiling water which is on top of a camp fire.]

#127: The picture in the background illustrates the Battle Creek cure. The average viewer will likely miss this. An easy-to-see copy appears in the documentation package under "Point 66."

This picture is entirely out of place in a documentary film. Rather than informing the viewer of what was actually done, it is a caricature intended to ridicule the whole idea of hygienic hydrotherapy treatments.

The quote appearing on the video said that the sitz bath should be "at as low a temperature as can be tolerated without chilliness." Obviously, since the man is visibly shivering, the treatment isn't being done properly.

The hot foot bath is not supposed to have the source of heat under the basin. Hot water is to be added by pouring. The proper way to do it is to have one's hand in the water as one is pouring it. Thus if it is too hot, the one adding the water will be able to tell before great discomfort is felt. And the hot foot bath may be contraindicated by diabetes.

WARNING: If anyone attempts to administer a hydrotherapy treatment as it is depicted on this video from Jeremiah Films, he or she could very well be sued by the injured party.
